A couple of weeks ago I ordered the Anew Clean Illuminating Rich Cleansing Foam and Anew Clean  Micellar Cleansing Water from Avon. I love Avon products and got these on a great deal 2 for $12. I love that the packaging is simple and clean, just like the product.

Let’s start with the foam cleanser. Here is the description on Avon’s site: This rich cleansing foam cleanses skin of dirt, oil and impurities, helps reinforce skin’s protective moisture barrier to keep skin feeling resilient, and preps skin to receive the optimal results for Anew moisturizers and treatments. 5 fl. oz.

Pros: A little goes a long way with this cleanser, you really only need a pea-sized amount. It foams up to a rich lather and leaves skin clean without stripping skin of its moisture. It also leaves skin with a soft clean smell similar to Dove soap.

Cons: I’m pretty lazy when it comes to skin care and don’t like to use multiple products. I don’t like the extra step of using eye makeup remover unless I’ve used waterproof mascara/eyeliner, which I almost never do. I usually use cleansers that are gentle enough to use around my eyes.

This cleanser is NOT one of them. My fault for not giving it a test run first but I lathered up my whole face including my eyes and rinsed as I usually do and my eyes were on FIRE. I rinsed thoroughly before opening my eyes but they still hurt like crazy. I’m now very careful to avoid my eyes when washing my face and sometimes my eyes still end up stinging due to a small sud flying in or even just the cleanser being close to the vicinity of my eyes.

I do think this is a great cleanser for the face but I’m curious what ingredient makes it that harsh on the eyes, it’s probably not something I’d want on my skin anyway, which sadly is a deal breaker for me. Once I finish this bottle, I will go back to my usual cleansers. I usually rotate between Purity Made Simple by Philosophy, Olay Foaming Face Wash, or Simple.

Verdict: B+ give it a go if you don’t mind using a separate makeup remover for your eyes.

Anew Clean  Micellar Cleansing Water:

Here’s Avon’s description: This micellar cleansing water cleanses skin of dirt, oil and impurities, helps reinforce skin’s protective moisture barrier to keep skin feeling resilient, and preps skin to receive the optimal results for Anew moisturizers and treatments. Formulated with Isotonic Water Complex, it works to attract and maintain moisture so skin feels softer and more revitalized. 5 fl. oz.

Pros: I absolutely love this micellar water, it’s everything micellar water should be. It’s light refreshing and gives your skin a deep down clean. I love using it to refresh my skin or after a particularly sweaty workout.

It’s gentle, which means I can use it to clean off my eye makeup but it never gets my eyeliner all the way off.

Cons: This alone would definitely not remove your eyeliner/mascara completely but I’m not even sure if micellar water is supposed to do that, so it’s not a huge con. One more tiny con is that the water doesn’t flow out of the opening as easily as it could.

Verdict: A- I’d definitely buy this micellar water again.
